Cheng's design inspiration came from the desire to create an office layout different from the norm. The location of the office provided an opportunity to build an open and mobile space that enhances the flow of movement and improves lighting. The design focuses on the interaction between natural light and space, achieved through the perfect distribution of moving lines, plan layout, and functions.
What sets this design apart is its basic tonality, which is steady and high-texture. The office walls are painted with cement coating, matched with wood texture, to present a multi-level performance. The deliberately exposed ceiling beam highlights the curved ceiling light, creating a sense of extensive vision. The use of transparent glass and iron mesh to divide the office area and conference room maintains the penetration of light while preserving privacy.
The realization of this design involved the use of various materials and technologies, including cement coating painting, calcium silicate board, hinted grid ceiling, Bolon carpet, curved glass, and iron grid screen. Despite the challenges posed by the small space height and numerous 90-degree corners, the design team managed to create a visually appealing and functional space.
The design project, which was completed in July 2018, was a collaborative effort between Yu-Ming Cheng and Helen Chen. Their work was inspired by the L.V. flagship store in Taipei and involved overcoming the challenge of cladding a large space within a small one.
The Feastogether Corporation Office design is a testament to the power of innovative thinking in transforming traditional office spaces. Its award-winning status underscores its uniqueness and the remarkable level of excellence it embodies. This design serves as an inspiration for future office designs, challenging the norms and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
